What it costs, before you ask

Most accountants make you ring up to find out. These are real starting prices, and the fee is agreed with you in writing before any work begins. What moves it is volume and the state of the records, and both of those are explained further down rather than left as a surprise.

Before any work starts

The fee is agreed with you in writing

These are starting prices. What you pay is worked out from what your business actually puts through, and it is agreed with you in the engagement letter before anybody does anything.

What changes an accountancy fee

A starting price is a starting price. These are the things that change it, and we work them out with you before quoting rather than after invoicing.

  • Transaction volume
  • Number of bank or credit card accounts
  • Whether you are VAT registered
  • Payroll and CIS requirements
  • Complexity of the transactions
  • Condition and completeness of your records
  • Any catch-up work or historical corrections needed

Work we quote for rather than price

Some work takes an unpredictable amount of professional time, and putting a number on it here would be a guess dressed up as a price. These get a tailored quote.

  • Historical corrections spanning several years
  • Large software migrations
  • Complex CIS or VAT corrections
  • Detailed forecasting, budgeting and cash-flow projects
  • Large payrolls, or multiple payroll frequencies
  • Significant year-end clean-up
  • Company strike-off support where the circumstances are complicated

No VAT is added to any of these fees. Tickdoc is not VAT registered, so the figures on this page are what you pay. If you are not VAT registered yourself, that is a real difference: most practices quote plus VAT, and you would not be able to reclaim it.

Accounting software subscriptions are not included in Tickdoc's fees. Most clients pay Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent directly; where it is simpler, we can pay the subscription on your behalf and you reimburse us.
