How this site is written and checked
This is an accounting website, so a number on it is either right or it is a problem. These are the rules the site is held to, written plainly enough that you can check whether we are keeping them.
Who writes it
Everything here is written and technically reviewed by Sibo Armstrong, Director and Founder of Tickdoc Ltd. Where an article has had external technical review, the page says so. We would rather put a name on it that you can look up than list an editorial board you cannot: a masthead you cannot verify is worth less than a name you can.
Every figure carries a date
Tax thresholds, rates, deadlines and allowances change, and a page that does not say when it was checked is a page you cannot rely on. So a threshold, rate or deadline goes on this site only after it has been checked against a gov.uk or professional-body primary source, and the page says when that check happened.
Each page shows a published date and a last-reviewed date, separately and honestly. If only the review date has moved, the content was checked and found still correct. We do not re-date a page to make it look fresh.
What we will not claim
The status words that plenty of bookkeeping sites use loosely are absent here on purpose, including where it would be convenient to use one. We would rather publish the things that can actually be looked up:
- Anti-money-laundering supervision by HMRC, reference XVML00000208643
- ICO registration ZB041083
- Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent partner status
- Professional indemnity cover, with the insurer named
Reviews
The reviews on this site are pulled directly from Tickdoc's Google Business Profile and are never edited. We show all of them, including the one that is not five stars, and we show the reply to each. Curly quotes are converted to straight ones to match the site's typography, which changes the glyph and never a word.
We do not use structured data to claim those reviews as our own. They are Google's, they are checkable on Google, and there is a link on the reviews page to go and do exactly that.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we would rather know. Email info@tickdoc.co.uk or call 07481 700044. A factual error is corrected as soon as it is confirmed, the review date moves, and where the correction changes the meaning of the page we say what changed rather than quietly editing it.
What this site is not
Nothing here is advice for your particular circumstances. It is general information, written carefully and dated, and your situation may turn on a detail no article can know about. If a decision matters, ask us directly and we will answer about your business rather than about businesses in general.
Advertising and independence
No page on this site is sponsored, and nothing on it is an affiliate link. Where we name accounting software we are describing what we actually use with clients. Tickdoc holds partner status with Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent; that is a working relationship rather than a commission, and it is listed openly among the credentials rather than left for you to discover.
